About The Position

Superior Trim Formed Products is looking for a team-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance department on 2nd shift. The 2nd Shift Maintenance / Setup Technician supports production by performing equipment changeovers, troubleshooting equipment issues, completing repairs, and assisting with preventative maintenance. A major focus of this position is completing accurate and efficient CNC and oven former changeovers to minimize downtime and keep second-shift production running safely and effectively.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and basic maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to read work instructions, prints, setup sheets, and basic equipment documentation.
  • Ability to work independently during second shift and make sound decisions when equipment issues occur.
  • Good communication, organization, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple machine issues and production needs.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to bend, climb, reach, push, and pull as required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and safely move tooling, machine components, and maintenance materials.
  • Ability to work around industrial machinery, elevated temperatures, noise, and manufacturing equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous industrial maintenance, machine setup, CNC, thermoforming, or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CNC machine changeovers according to the production schedule and applicable setup documentation.
  • Install and remove required tooling, fixtures, vacuum fixtures, programs, and other setup components.
  • Verify CNC setup is correct before releasing the machine to production.
  • Perform oven former changeovers, including changing molds, tooling, fixtures, clamp frames, and other required components.
  • Assist with adjustments required to properly set thermoforming equipment for the next production job.
  • Verify machine settings and setup requirements using work instructions, setup sheets, prints, and production documentation.
  • Make basic machine adjustments during startup as needed and work with operators to confirm acceptable parts.
  • Prepare upcoming jobs and tooling whenever possible to reduce changeover time.
  • Return tooling, fixtures, and setup components to designated storage locations after use.
  • Respond to production equipment problems during second shift and prioritize work based on safety and production needs.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and basic control-related equipment issues.
  • Complete equipment repairs, adjustments, and corrective maintenance within the employee’s training and qualifications.
  • Assist with scheduled preventative maintenance tasks and equipment inspections.
  • Inspect equipment for abnormal wear, leaks, loose components, damaged wiring, or other developing problems.
  • Communicate larger or unresolved equipment problems to the Maintenance Manager and appropriate personnel.
  • Document repairs, equipment issues, changeovers, and work completed as required.
  • Maintain tools, spare parts, and maintenance work areas in an organized condition.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout requirements.
  • Ensure guards, safety devices, and machine components are properly installed after maintenance or changeover work.
  • Support operators with machine-related questions, adjustments, and equipment issues.
  • Help identify recurring equipment or setup problems and communicate improvement opportunities.
  • Work closely with production, maintenance, quality, and supervision to keep equipment operating efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and perform additional maintenance or production-support duties as assigned.
