About The Position

Greenwood Mills, Inc., a family-owned textile manufacturing business located in Greenwood, SC, is seeking motivated employees to assist in the yarn-making process within the spinning department. This role involves performing preventive maintenance and repairs on spinning machinery, lubricating equipment, cleaning machinery when stopped, and other assigned duties. The company has been in business for over 135 years and produces cloth for the US Military and uniforms. No prior textile experience is required, but it is considered a plus. The company is looking for individuals who wish to build a long-term career with them.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work safely around moving parts.
  • Must understand mechanical operation of loom.
  • Must be able to transport and install pieces of equipment weighing 75-100 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb and use a ladder as needed.
  • Must be able to use gauges, power tools, and hand tools.
  • Must be able to supply own work tools.
  • Must be able to read and understand written instructions.
  • Must be able to complete simple reports.
  • Must be able to write legibly.
  • Must be able to perform simple math.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors in stock-in-process and waste.
  • Must be able to wear ear plugs, respirator/dust mask, goggles/eye protection, and other protective pieces of equipment.
  • Must be able to meet Plant schedules and attendance requirements as specified in Company Policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior textile or manufacturing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on spinning machinery.

  • Performs stop off cleaning.
  • Follows safety rules prescribed by the plant.
  • Works safely around moving parts.
  • Understands the mechanical operation of the loom.
