About The Position

This position involves working independently and cooperatively to meet and exceed customer, company, and department expectations through established procedures. The role requires maintaining positive and productive behavior, showing care for customers and fellow employees, without compromising company or personal standards. The Maintenance Tech PM is responsible for routine equipment inspections, performing maintenance duties, operating equipment safely, and maintaining all required company and departmental records and documents. This includes using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work orders and preventive maintenance worksheets, and understanding equipment manuals. The role also involves attending GMP & Safety Meetings, participating in available training, and contributing to the management of parts inventory. Maintenance personnel must have a thorough understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Meat Company's Maintenance Program, safety programs, and company policies and procedures. They are responsible for maintaining the integrity and cleanliness of personal and company tools and must never bypass equipment safety devices.

Requirements

  • General plant training.
  • General department training.
  • Assembly/disassembly of equipment.
  • Lubrication and filtration (inspection/repair/preventive maintenance).
  • Utilities (inspection/repair/preventive maintenance).
  • Tasks assigned verbally, written, or digitally by Maintenance Leadership.
  • Basic mechanical problem solving.
  • Basic electrical problem solving.
  • Working knowledge of tools.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Air filter identification and replacement.
  • V-Belt identification and replacement.
  • Basic Plumbing identification and repair (Water Closet, sinks, fittings, Pipe threading, etc.).
  • Door repair (Seals, handles, etc.).
  • Inspection of Facility safety devices (Fire Extinguisher, Eye wash station, etc.).
  • Maintain building and grounds.
  • Oil identification and change.
  • Bearings identification, lubrication, and repair.
  • Conveyor belt identification and repair.
  • Pneumatic hose identification and repair.
  • Process equipment assembly.
  • High school diploma with 1 year of working experience in a USDA facility is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Routinely inspect equipment to identify and report potential equipment failure.
  • Routinely inspect equipment to identify and report potential equipment safety issues (personnel and/or food safety).
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled and/or assigned to process equipment.
  • Perform repairs to maintain the operational ability and integrity of process equipment.
  • Maintain areas outside of processing areas to the level of requirements of the Master Sanitation Plan.
  • Perform preoperational equipment setup/maintenance and post operational equipment teardown/maintenance on process equipment.
  • Safely operate various maintenance power tools.
  • Safely operate forklifts, manual and/or electric pallet jacks (Plant Certification required).
  • Maintain and update, create Work Orders & Preventive Maintenance Worksheets within the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Maintain and understand how to use equipment manuals located within the Maintenance Library.
  • Attend GMP & Safety Meetings.
  • Attend training made available in relation to the job description.
  • Evaluate and contribute to the management of the parts inventory level.
  • Maintain the integrity and cleanness of personal tools and company tools.
  • Ensure equipment safety devices are not bypassed.
