About The Position

Staples is seeking a Maintenance Technician 3 for their Supply Chain team. This role is crucial for keeping the Fulfillment Center running smoothly across all shifts by performing preventative and on-demand maintenance on various equipment. The position emphasizes safety and requires a strong technical aptitude to handle electrical, HVAC, material handling, and conveyor systems. The role is full-time, working a second shift from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm, Monday through Friday, in a climate-controlled warehouse environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience
  • Ability to pass a drug screen to the extent permissible legally
  • Basic English language skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift; additional overtime hours will be required based on business need
  • Ability to work at heights up to 60 feet or more as needed
  • Ability to lift, push or pull boxes/merchandise weighing between 70 pounds and 100 pounds by hand
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Mechanical aptitude, knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, pneumatics
  • Ability to read blueprints/schematics including electrical schematics
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex automated electrical control systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical/electronic challenges to repair motor control and lighting systems
  • Ability to work with high voltages (up to 480VAC) as well as low voltage DC electrical systems
  • Ability to use vendor manuals and procedures to perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting tasks
  • Ability to be trained and MHE certified to operate power material handling equipment, i.e. Forklift, Electric Pallet Jack, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and on-demand maintenance on electrical motors, material handling equipment, propane torches, man-lift, hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, grinders, electrical test equipment, ladders, lift equipment jacks, chargers, and batteries.
  • Perform general building and conveyor maintenance, light plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
  • Assist and relay directions from supervisor to other technicians and assistants.
  • Utilize technical knowledge of electrical, HVAC, energy management, hydraulics, material handling equipment, and conveyor systems to ensure the Fulfillment Center runs smoothly.
  • Ensure safe work practices and embrace the company's safety culture.
