About The Position

Under general supervision, performs skilled work to complete installation/maintenance/repair for City buildings and property. Work involves performing electrical, plumbing, carpentry and general construction trades. Performs general building and property maintenance as required on a variety of public facilities.

Requirements

  • Technical and/or vocational degree or certificate
  • Five (5) years of experience building construction and/or facility maintenance experience
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and repairs building electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs plumbing fixtures and drains.
  • Performs carpentry as necessary to complete installation/maintenance/repair for buildings, walls, floors, ceilings, windows, doors, etc.
  • Performs general construction such as cabinets, roofing, building addition and other building repairs
  • Troubleshoots and maintains HVAC systems.
  • Complete minor HVAC repairs.
  • Performs painting as necessary for building maintenance and/or additions.
  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs appliances.
  • Reads and interprets building plans, blueprints and manufacturers shop drawings
  • Prepares, receives, reviews and closes out records and reports such as work orders, service requests, project status, etc.
  • Refers to parts manual, facilities drawings, policy and procedure manuals, codes / laws / regulations, publications and reference texts, etc.
  • Operates a variety of specialty tools for electrical, plumbing, HVAC and carpentry trades.
  • Operates a variety of construction equipment such as lifts, hoists, etc.
  • Specifies and orders tools and supplies as necessary to complete job duties.
  • Specifies and orders parts and materials as necessary to complete installation and repairs.
  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the City Manager, Public Works Director, Facilities Superintendent, department heads, co-workers, and the general public.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • All employees of the municipality shall learn the emergency operations procedures for their respective department and position and execute these duties fully during times of emergency. This may or may not include assignment to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
