About The Position

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the Maintenance Technician I is primarily responsible for executing operational and facilities responsibilities, as well as performing light maintenance work. This role involves assisting with the day-to-day operations of the B&G department, including staffing, maintenance, operations, and cleaning. The technician will be responsible for setting up and breaking down rooms for internal programs and outside rentals, and managing the physical arrangements in buildings and on grounds for various events such as concerts, lectures, and athletic events. The position requires availability and responsiveness for building-wide events and emergencies, including evenings and weekends, and the ability to complete work assignments in a timely manner. Periodic reports of jobs accomplished are expected. Additional duties include assisting with laundry and cleaning, collecting recyclables, delivering packages, and moving department equipment as needed. The role also involves visually inspecting work, buildings, and equipment, cleaning whirlpools, testing and recording pool chemicals, and repairing/installing locks in locker rooms. Light maintenance, potentially including electrical troubleshooting and plumbing repairs, is also part of the responsibilities. Ensuring compliance with safety standards and alerting supervisors to unusual occurrences or necessary work are key aspects of the job.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand written material and instructions.
  • Must be able to spend majority of shift walking, twisting, bending, pushing, stooping, and pulling.
  • Must be capable of working in a fast- paced environment with multiple interruptions.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Prior related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the B&G dept in relation to staffing, maintenance, operations and cleaning as needed.
  • Properly set up and breakdown room for all internal J programs and outside rentals.
  • Responsible for the physical arrangements in buildings and on grounds for performances such as concerts, lectures, athletic events, etc.
  • Provide support, direction and supervision to internal staff and temporary staff as needed.
  • Be available and responsive to support building wide events and emergencies, including evenings and weekends.
  • Complete work assignments in a timely manner and as expected.
  • Make periodic reports of jobs accomplished.
  • Assist with laundry and cleaning as needed.
  • Collection of Recyclables throughout the building.
  • Deliver packages from B&G to various departments in the building.
  • Moving department equipment as required.
  • Visually inspect work, buildings and equipment
  • Clean the whirlpools twice a week.
  • Test and record pool chemicals.
  • Repair and install locks in locker rooms
  • Other Light maintenance as required. May include electrical troubleshooting, and plumbing repairs.
  • Ensure Safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, state and federal guidelines.
  • Alert supervisor of any unusual occurrences, damage that has taken place and work that needs to be completed.
  • Other duties as requested by supervisor.
