About The Position

The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Technician is to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes according to the established standard operating procedures and guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in general repairs and line maintenance in industrial setting is required
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills in English is required
  • Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, repair or procedure manuals, correspondence; effectively communicate information and respond to questions from various levels within the organization
  • Proficiency in basic math and computer skills; add, subtract multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, or decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, to analyze equipment output according to specifications and submit reports on performance and progress, basic skills in MS Office
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with hands-on problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment; experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools
  • Must be team oriented and work well as part of a team in order to effectively collaborate with other departments to effectively and efficiently meet established goals for the company; willingness to assist other employees
  • Requires strong reasoning ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited standards exist; ability to interpret technical information furnished in written, oral, diagram, blueprint, mathematical or schedule form
  • Possess attention to detail; specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision., depth perception, and ability to quickly adjust focus, requires goof eye/hand/foot coordination
  • Time management skills in order to maintain the production pace with other team members

Responsibilities

  • Review work orders daily for repair and maintenance of machinery and mechanical equipment including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, mixers, packaging equipment, conveyer systems, and other production machines and facility equipment; estimate material requirements and repairs and/or replace defective parts as needed
  • Analyze mechanical and other operation problems and take corrective action; repair machines, equipment, or structures as necessary
  • Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. Check fill weights and adjust accordingly during production to ensure specifications are met.
  • Inspect workpiece for defects and measures workpiece, using rule, template, or other measuring instruments to determine accuracy of machine operation. Extract or lift jammed pieces from machine, using fingers, wire hooks, or lift bar.
  • Oversee contractors when professional repairs are necessary.
  • Clean and lubricate shaft, bearings, gears, and other machinery parts; conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment; perform preventative maintenance.
  • Setup and operate machine tools, such as hand saw, planer, joiner, shaper, drill press, lathe, grinder, or other equipment to repair machine parts; use all tools as instructed.
  • Prepare reports and maintain record of purchases, daily activities, work orders, preventative maintenance, etc.
  • Complete daily assigned tasks to meet production volume and schedule.
  • Ensure that work environment is maintained clean, safe and organized.
  • Perform related duties as required by supervision.
