About The Position

The Maintenance Technician in a hotel setting plays a critical role in ensuring the facility operates smoothly and guests experience a safe, comfortable environment. This position involves performing routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairing various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems throughout the hotel. The technician will respond promptly to maintenance requests, minimizing downtime and preventing disruptions to hotel operations. By maintaining the physical infrastructure, the role directly contributes to guest satisfaction and the overall reputation of the hotel. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician collaborates with other departments to support special projects and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in general maintenance, preferably in a hospitality or commercial environment.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and safety guidelines.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate maintenance equipment safely.
  • The Maintenance Technician uses technical skills daily to diagnose and repair a wide range of systems, ensuring the hotel remains fully operational.
  • Effective communication skills are essential for coordinating with hotel staff and explaining maintenance issues clearly.
  • Time management and organizational skills help prioritize tasks and maintain detailed records of maintenance activities.
  • Problem-solving abilities enable the technician to quickly identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and regulatory standards ensures all work is performed in compliance with legal and hotel policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing trades preferred but not required.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of hotel safety codes and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience working in a hotel or hospitality environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to identify maintenance needs.
  • Assist in repairs and preventive maintenance on minor HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal functionality with a certified licensed HVAC/Electrician.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from hotel staff and guests, prioritizing urgent issues to minimize impact on operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Collaborate with management and other departments to plan and execute renovation projects or upgrades while adhering to safety regulations.
