About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic I performs basic preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and tools and assists other Maintenance Department members with machine and building repairs. The role includes maintaining repair and maintenance records, following established safety procedures, and keeping the work area clean and organized. If assigned to the Treating Department, the employee follows hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices.

Requirements

High school diploma.
At least 1 year of experience in machine repair in maintenance.
Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology, and welding.
Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
Working knowledge of hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices.
Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

Perform regular preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, tools, and buildings.
Assist with repairs to woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts, following diagrams, operating manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
Order supplies and parts as required.
Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule.
Maintain records of repair and maintenance activities.
Perform duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Participate in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
If assigned to the Treating Department, follow hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices.
Prepare reports as required.
Perform other duties as required.
