About The Position

The Maintenance Team Lead is responsible for supporting the Maintenance Supervisor and Manager in achieving operational goals related to equipment reliability, safety, productivity, quality, and cost control. This role provides daily leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to maintenance technicians while coordinating workflow and ensuring timely completion of preventive and corrective maintenance activities. The Maintenance Team Lead serves as a senior technical resource for advanced facilities and automation systems, including electrical controls, conveyors, automated equipment, and building systems. This position is also responsible for training and onboarding new hires, developing technician capabilities, and promoting best practices in safety and maintenance excellence.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of maintenance experience in facilities, distribution, manufacturing, or automated environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, and training technicians or new hires.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, PLC logic, and mechanical and fluid power diagrams.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Basic computer and mathematical skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with PLCs, variable frequency drives (VFDs), conveyors, robotics, or automated material handling systems.
  • Certification in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or automation technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs facility infrastructure, building systems, and automated production equipment, including conveyors, motors, drives, PLC-controlled systems, and other electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
  • Provides daily leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to maintenance technicians while reinforcing management priorities and expectations.
  • Trains and onboards new hires, ensuring they are properly instructed on safety procedures, maintenance standards, and technical troubleshooting methods.
  • Coaches technicians to identify development opportunities and enhance their technical skills in electrical, mechanical, and automation systems.
  • Leads advanced troubleshooting efforts using root cause analysis and implements corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
  • Ensures all maintenance activities are accurately documented in the CMMS, including labor hours, parts used, and repair details.
  • Monitors work quality and ensures repairs are completed efficiently, effectively, and in compliance with established standards.
  • Promotes and enforces safe work practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinates with Operations, Engineering, Safety, and Facilities teams to address equipment issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participates in regular meetings to review performance, prioritize work, and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as assigned.
