About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. Under supervision, a Maintenance Systems Technician repairs and maintains electrical and control systems, and will also be involved with new equipment electrical installations. As a Maintenance Systems Technician you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Providing emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production. Performing scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service. Performing calibration verification on key production equipment. Assist with the removal of old equipment, and the installation of new equipment. Willingness to be called in after hours as needed. Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment such as but not limited to: AC/DC drives and motors, programmable logic controllers, process controllers, stepper & servo motors and controllers, hydraulic and pneumatic devices, and plant support equipment. Install, service, and troubleshoot equipment up to 480 volts. Review, interpret, and edit blueprints, electrical schematics, sketches, vendor drawings and manuals in the performance of this job. PLC experience, preferably with Allen Bradley PLCs. AC/DC Drive experience, preferably with Allen Bradley. Diagnose, repair, and adjust pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems, including control loops and P.I.D. loops (4-20 milliamps). Develop and maintain competence with computer skills, operating systems, and computer-based diagnostic programs to monitor, diagnose, and evaluate problems with electrical/electronic/mechanical manufacturing equipment and systems. Performs emergency maintenance and troubleshoots, repairs, modifies and adjusts plant manufacturing equipment. Use instruments to diagnose, repair, align, and adjust mechanical systems to include ball screws, drive systems, bearings. Requirements

  • Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Current, valid Driver’s License.
  • Qualified applicants will be required to take and pass 3M elected testing as a part of the selection process
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Nice To Haves

  • Two-year technical degree from an accredited institution
  • Five (5) years of work in systems maintenance field in a private, public, government or military environment
  • PLC experience, preferably with Allen Bradley PLCs
  • Perform installation and modification of control and power wiring, up to and including 480 volts AC.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Read, understand and update elementary drawings and wiring diagrams.
