About The Position

Volvo Circular Charlotte specializes in the remanufacturing of diesel engines and transmissions, and other Volvo Group sub-components. This position will work Monday through Thursday 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, with an expectation to be on call as needed. For this position, the base pay is set at $21.24 - $28.73/hour and is overtime eligible. Volvo employees enjoy generous paid time off, 401(k) with employer match, annual company bonus, and much more. As a Maintenance Technician I, you will support the Volvo remanufacturing operation by performing preventive and reactive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and assist in keeping production running safely and efficiently. You will work in accordance with Volvo Operations Concept, Standard Operating Procedures, and established safety and quality standards. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on problem solving, values continuous improvement, and takes pride in maintaining reliable equipment and a well-organized and safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience is required.
  • Safety glasses required while grinding, steaming, using blow nozzles, or around others performing similar tasks.
  • Safety glasses in cleaning building and machine shop at all times.
  • Safety shoes always required.
  • Special attention to noise levels, hearing protection required in specific areas or operations.
  • Continuous elevated level of alertness.
  • Lock out tag out management and adherence

Responsibilities

  • Performs reactive and preventive maintenance on machines and production equipment.
  • Records, reports, and acts on solutions for damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • Orders and installs replacement parts for machines.
  • Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines and fills out the appropriate documentation.
  • Prepares reports documenting work performed and improvements to avoid future incidences.
  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines, utilizing the maintenance database system.
  • Collaborates with product manager or plant engineer regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.
  • Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with product manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
