Maintenance Support Technician
About The Position
Silgan Closures is seeking a Maintenance Support Technician for a Monday-Friday Day Shift position. The position involves assisting maintenance technicians with preventive maintenance, performing basic equipment inspections, and maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the maintenance shop and parts room. Responsibilities also include receiving, stocking, and issuing maintenance spare parts, assisting with contractor coordination, and helping in other job functions as required. The role also requires compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety, and HACCP Pre-requisite Programs.
Requirements
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to use computers, tablets, scanners, and other electronic devices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout a 12-hour shift
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with moving equipment and varying temperatures
Nice To Haves
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Manufacturing, warehouse, or forklift experience preferred
- Forklift experience strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance, including building and grounds.
- Perform inventory and help in the parts room.
- Perform minor building, office, and grounds repairs as needed.
- Clean up the production area and machinery.
- Help with general maintenance tasks within the plant.
- Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.
- Assist maintenance technicians with preventive maintenance activities.
- Perform basic equipment inspections and report deficiencies.
- Help in other job functions as required.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety, and HACCP Pre-requisite Programs related to activities performed for this position.
