About The Position

The Maintenance Support Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the maintenance department through effective inventory management, tool control, and computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) administration. This position ensures maintenance technicians have the parts, tools, and information necessary to maximize equipment uptime and operational efficiency. The Maintenance Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, managing maintenance supplies and tooling, and supporting the integrity of maintenance data within the CMMS.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in inventory control, maintenance support, storeroom operations, or manufacturing support roles preferred.
  • Experience working with CMMS software preferred.
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance parts, tooling, and industrial supplies.
  • Ability to research parts, specifications, and supplier information.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, databases, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms and inventory management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and maintain maintenance inventory locations, including machine-side inventory storage.
  • Develop and maintain clearly labeled inventory locations and storage systems.
  • Ensure all inventory is properly organized, identified, and stored for efficient access.
  • Research and verify correct replacement parts, specifications, and supplier information.
  • Establish and maintain minimum and maximum inventory levels for stocked parts.
  • Enter and maintain accurate part information within the CMMS.
  • Monitor inventory usage and ensure all parts consumed are properly recorded in the CMMS.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and inventory audits to verify inventory accuracy.
  • Order replacement parts when inventory levels reach established reorder points.
  • Receive, label, and enter new inventory items into stock locations and the CMMS.
  • Develop and maintain a structured inventory control system for punch and die tooling.
  • Establish minimum and maximum inventory levels for punch and die tooling.
  • Track tooling usage and coordinate replenishment when inventory falls below established levels.
  • Perform regular audits of maintenance consumables, including lubricants, cleaners, and related supplies.
  • Coordinate purchasing and replenishment of maintenance consumables.
  • Maintain inventory and organization of maintenance shop tools and equipment.
  • Manage tool checkout and return processes to ensure accountability and availability.
  • Track tool locations and usage.
  • Conduct routine audits to verify tools and equipment remain serviceable and in good working condition.
  • Coordinate procurement of approved shop tools and equipment as needed.
  • Monitor preventive maintenance (PM) completion rates and communicate scheduling concerns to the PM Scheduler.
  • Audit completed work orders to ensure maintenance documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with departmental standards.
  • Monitor incoming CMMS work requests and ensure urgent maintenance issues are communicated promptly to the maintenance team.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance planning, inventory management, and CMMS utilization.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate maintenance records and reporting metrics.
