The Maintenance Supervisor will design and optimize mechanical systems, lead reliability and preventive maintenance initiatives, and provide technical oversight to maintenance technicians. This role safeguards product quality, personnel safety, and regulatory compliance across multiple shifts. Responsibilities include modifying and repairing conveyors, ovens, coolers, mixers, and packaging machinery to increase throughput, reduce energy consumption, and meet USDA/FDA sanitary design standards. The supervisor will prepare detailed engineering drawings, bills of material, and technical specifications for new installations and retrofits using CAD and FEA tools. They will develop and own the plant’s preventive maintenance (PM) and condition-based monitoring programs, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, and infrared thermography, to extend asset life and achieve ≥95% planned labor utilization. Generating maintenance procedures, work instructions, and checklists, and verifying execution through regular audits and KPI reviews are key. The role involves leading failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and root cause investigations for chronic downtime events, recommending design changes or process adjustments to eliminate recurring faults and achieve best in class MTBF. Tracking downtime data, creating Pareto analyses, and presenting counter measures to plant leadership are also required. Managing capital projects from scope development through start-up, including preparing cost estimates, writing RFQs, evaluating vendor proposals, and coordinating contractors during equipment installation, commissioning, and validation, is essential. Ensuring projects are executed on time, within budget, and in compliance with ASME, NFPA, NEC, and company safety standards is critical. The position provides day-to-day engineering support to production supervisors and technicians, troubleshooting complex mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues. Delivering ongoing skill-building sessions on precision maintenance, lock out/tag out (LO/TO), and new technology rollouts, and mentoring technicians in reading schematics and interpreting engineering documentation are part of the role. Conducting monthly safety training and engineering reviews to maintain zero lost time incidents, and investigating any injuries within 24 hours and completing detailed engineering analyses within 48 hours are also required. The supervisor will champion food safety and GMP adherence by integrating hygienic design principles into all mechanical systems. Standardizing maintenance workflows across shifts to drive consistency and maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is expected. Establishing and monitoring KPIs—downtime per line, PM compliance, spare parts turns, energy intensity—and implementing Kaizen and Six Sigma initiatives to surpass plant targets are also key responsibilities. This position supervises five employees.
