The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for designing and optimizing mechanical systems, leading reliability and preventive maintenance initiatives, and providing technical oversight to maintenance technicians. This role safeguards product quality, personnel safety, and regulatory compliance across multiple shifts. The supervisor will modify and repair conveyors, ovens, coolers, mixers, and packaging machinery to increase throughput, reduce energy consumption, and meet USDA/FDA sanitary design standards. They will prepare detailed engineering drawings, bills of material, and technical specifications for new installations and retrofits using CAD and FEA tools. Additionally, the supervisor will develop and own the plant’s preventive maintenance (PM) and condition-based monitoring programs, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, and infrared thermography, to extend asset life and achieve ≥95% planned labor utilization. The role involves generating maintenance procedures, work instructions, and checklists, and verifying execution through regular audits and KPI reviews. The supervisor will lead failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and root cause investigations for chronic downtime events, recommending design changes or process adjustments to eliminate recurring faults and achieve best in class MTBF. They will track downtime data, create Pareto analyses, and present counter measures to plant leadership. The position also includes managing capital projects from scope development through start-up, including preparing cost estimates, writing RFQs, evaluating vendor proposals, and coordinating contractors during equipment installation, commissioning, and validation, ensuring projects are executed on time, within budget, and in compliance with ASME, NFPA, NEC, and company safety standards. The supervisor will provide day-to-day engineering support to production supervisors and technicians, troubleshooting complex mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues. They will deliver ongoing skill-building sessions on precision maintenance, lock out/tag out (LO/TO), and new technology rollouts, mentoring technicians in reading schematics and interpreting engineering documentation. The role requires conducting monthly safety training and engineering reviews to maintain zero lost time incidents, investigating any injuries within 24 hours and completing detailed engineering analyses within 48 hours. The supervisor will champion food safety and GMP adherence by integrating hygienic design principles into all mechanical systems, standardizing maintenance workflows across shifts to drive consistency and maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). They will establish and monitor KPIs such as downtime per line, PM compliance, spare parts turns, and energy intensity, and implement Kaizen and Six Sigma initiatives to surpass plant targets. This position supervises five employees.
