About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor, in cooperation with supervisors, leads and operators in each area, is responsible for the effective execution of Electrical work in the plant & Battle Creek facilities. This role involves motivating, leading, and managing a diverse personnel group, establishing and holding individuals accountable to goals, and practicing safe working habits. The position requires strong knowledge of industrial machinery components, mechanical and electrical repair skills, and the ability to troubleshoot complex equipment. The supervisor will also be responsible for performance evaluations, recommending production improvements, conducting training, maintaining facilities to GMP and SQF standards, and supporting SOP development. Managerial responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, appraising performance, and resolving employee issues.

Requirements

Strong knowledge and understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, belt systems, motors, pumps, and other industrial machine components.
Must possess the skills/knowledge of an Industrial Electrician to read and comprehend electrical schematics.
Working knowledge of electrical controls systems, safety circuits, and automation components such as inductive proximity sensors, photoeye sensors, and mechanical limit switches.
Knowledge of safety policies and procedures is required (e.g. lock out / tag out, high voltage electrical).
Working knowledge of and the ability to use hand and power tools.
High school diploma or GED required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to lead and communicate with a multi-cultural and multi-lingual personnel team.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Inventory software and Manufacturing software, as well as general Email and Internet research capabilities.

Nice To Haves

Associates degree or trade skills preferred.
Industrial Maintenance experience in a leadership role preferred.
Experience with boiler systems and ammonia refrigeration a plus.
Experience in the food industry a plus.

Responsibilities

Communicate with and collaborate with all departments to ensure that plans are aligned and operations remain fully functional.

Practice safe working habits, ability to follow directions, and work with minimal supervision.
Perform and supervise mechanical work, valve replacement, conveyor bearing and chain replacement, motor/gearbox replacement, lubrication systems.
Install, troubleshoot, conduct preventative maintenance and perform repairs to facilities and production equipment to 480 Volts, 3-Phase.
Troubleshoot and re-wire high speed equipment such as AC/DC motors, VFDs, PLCs, PLC I/O modules and servo motors.
Provide individual performance evaluations with primary focus being recognition and identification of improvement/growth opportunities.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
Conducts training and safety training meetings as required.
Maintain facilities to meet GMP and SQF standards.
Lead and support continuous development of SOP documentation and use.
Regularly inspects work areas and equipment to ensure OSHA standards are met.
Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
