About The Position

Directly supports and oversees the site wide Mill Maintenance Program. Fully supports, implements, and enforces the Magris Talc HR, HSEQ programs as outlined in the Company polices, CBA, Provincial and Federal regulations, and laws. Oversees administrative duties of Timmins Operations Administrator that are related to hourly Maintenance employees.

Requirements

  • Mechanical and / or Electrical skilled Tradespeople with progressive experience.
  • Mechanical and / or Electrical Engineering Technician or Technologist preferred.
  • MMP Certification is an asset.
  • Experience in maintenance of Mill Process equipment.
  • Computer and programming skills. MP2, AX, Excel viewed as an asset.
  • Attention to detail, data entry accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to be self-directed and can work in an organized manner in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good overall interpersonal skills and leadership style.
  • Leads self, effectively leads others, and encourages good collaboration and cooperation within team, across departments and with external resources.
  • Effective Project management.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively write and present reports.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and fully participates in HR, HSEQ investigations related to Maintenance and / or department employees.
  • Oversees the progress and completion of all required internal training requirements for Maintenance and Apprentice employees.
  • Ensures all external and specialty training requirements for Maintenance employees is completed and that skill set competencies are up to date as per Company, Provincial or Federal regulations and policies.
  • Reviews, coordinates, and executes all Maintenance requirements and activities required for safe and efficient operation of mill.
  • Maintains Preventive Maintenance Program for Timmins Mill
  • Reviews and oversees the implementation of all assigned repairs and improvements for equipment performed by Maintenance Leader.
  • Oversees the direction of daily job tasks assigned to Maintenance employees and approves all outlined weekend work.
  • Oversees Contractor Management processes with Admin support and supervises contracting work.
  • Plans and executes Maintenance shutdown days.
  • Maintains Plant maintenance costs, oversees M&R costs, tracks expenses and ensures alignment to budgeted amounts.
  • Updates and reports on Maintenance Cost tracking sheets for Mill Manager.
  • Liaises with Production teams as required through regular and ongoing interaction and communications to alleviate any production issues directly related to Maintenance.
  • Oversees, assists, and is regularly involved in projects related to the Timmins Operations. This includes but is not limited to coordination, installation, administration, Contactor support, Operations support, external resources support and internal support teams.
  • Monitors progress on various project scopes related to Maintenance.
  • Oversees updates on changes or additions to matrices and indexes required and related to Maintenance tasks.
  • Oversees and liaises with Timmins Operations Administrator for all related payroll processes for Maintenance employees including regular schedule work, paid time off, replacement coverage, sick days. etc.
  • Supervises Maintenance employees and addresses questions, complaints, and performance issues.
  • Informs the Mill Manager about employee disciplinary issues and issues disciplinary action where required under the direction of the Mill Manager.
  • Oversees onboarding processes of new Maintenance employees with administrative support.
  • Actively participates in the On-Call rotational duties as required.
  • Oversees sourcing and improvements of required parts, equipment, and processes with the support of Timmins Operations Administrator.
  • Analyzes equipment, implements new methods designed to improve operations and efficiencies, minimize operating costs, forecasted downtime and loss prevention.
  • Oversees onboarding processes of new Maintenance employees with administrative support.
  • Participates and engages in job task observations with Mill and Maintenance employees.
  • Any other duties that may be implemented and required as part of this scope of work in Maintenance.
  • Familiarization of CBA and related processes for USW 7580-01
  • Full participates in staff, Production and Maintenance team meetings as required.
  • Regularly confers and coordinates with Operations, Engineering, Processing and Quality Control to resolve operational problems and recommends measures to improve Maintenance function and condition of equipment.
  • Participates in Replacement and Succession Planning for Maintenance department.
  • Participates in auditing processes related to Maintenance if required.
  • Participates in Company HSEQ programs and initiatives.
  • Applies their own technical knowledge, skills, and expertise to various aspects of the operations.
