Requirements

  • High School Degree Required
  • Mechanical skills in maintenance and operation of industrial refrigeration systems.
  • Working knowledge of the public refrigerated warehouse (PRW) industry and industrial refrigeration systems (e.g. anhydrous ammonia)
  • Ability to perform safe shut downs of refrigeration systems.
  • Working knowledge of the functions of various material handling equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks, lead acid batteries, battery chargers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of refrigeration control systems, microprocessors, and asset management systems (e.g. Infor EAM)
  • Knowledge of mechanics and mechanical skills.
  • Bend and lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Lift up to 70lbs with assistance on an occasional basis
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls
  • Be able to speak and hear for safety and productivity
  • Use scanners, tablets, radio, phones, and other warehouse machinery
  • Ability to lift overhead
  • Drive a registered motor vehicle to satisfy daily requirements
  • Have acceptable and / or correctable vision
  • Work in an atmosphere range of + 50 to - 30 degrees F with a moderate noise level
  • Personal interaction and communication required to and from other people is extremely high
  • Good arithmetic and reading skills
  • Understand and follow verbal instruction, written instruction and company policies
  • A self-starter that can work independently and coordinate with others
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage stress and productivity guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • ETA Certification Recommended but not Required
  • Must pass Emergency Response Physical. (Lung Capacity and Auditory Testing are conducted annually)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facilities refrigeration systems, material handling equipment, and maintain all aspects of facility infrastructure and grounds.
  • Supervise, manage, and respond to incidents, injuries, and near-misses by conducting follow-up investigations and logging reports into the safety tracking system.
  • Supervise and continuously improve labor efficiency through coaching, feedback, and training initiatives.
  • Approve timecards, assist with scheduling, and managing time-off requests.
  • Oversee and conduct performance reviews of team members, ensuring clear and constructive feedback.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and necessary maintenance repairs.
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Maintain organization and inventory of Maintenance Shop
  • Perform building maintenance with routine inspections of lighting, filters, vents, etc.
  • Maintains outside grounds.
  • Prepares building for season changes.
  • Maintains proper appearance of building by cleaning, painting and repairing.
  • Must be able to be on call to respond to possible and actual emergences
  • Supervise, train, and manage daily tasks of maintenance personnel.
  • Participate on an Emergency Response Team.
  • Establish and maintain a high level of professionalism that supports collaboration and problem solving while building strong working relationships with various stakeholders including facility management, subordinates, and vendors.
  • Supervise contractors to ensure the work is being performed in a safe manner and according to the project outline.
  • Participate on an Emergency Response Team.
  • Participate in staff and/or customer meetings if required.
  • Required to attend Ammonia Training Class yearly.
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions to improve the site and prevent unsafe or outdated issues in coordination with local leadership.
  • Always maintain a professional manner in appearance and communications.
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.
  • Identify and record any issues relating to product, processes and/or quality.
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through appropriate channels.
  • Verify the implementation of solutions.
  • Follow posted security procedures at all times while in the building.
  • Participate in Safety and Educational Training.
