About The Position

Weyerhaeuser's McComb, MS lumber mill is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor. The McComb Lumber facility, part of Weyerhaeuser’s Gulf South Lumber mill set, consists of log yard, sawmill, dry kilns, planer and shipping operations. The Maintenance Supervisor is a key member of the maintenance team that supports the facility. This is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to the Maintenance Manager.

Requirements

  • Experience in a maintenance leadership role in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Successful development and implementation of engineering solutions to manufacturing challenges.
  • Track record of consistently demonstrating leadership skills as well as positive influence and accomplishments in proactively influencing safety, environmental, quality, productivity, and people development.
  • Strong troubleshooting and failure analysis skills.
  • Proven experience in preventive, precision, and predictive maintenance methods.
  • Ability to identify root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and electronic communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with all associates through coaching, development and instilling a continuous improvement mind-set.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop partnerships between facilities.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic, good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office products, other windows-based programs and internet skills.
  • Experience utilizing computer maintenance management systems (ie: SAP) consisting of work orders, preventive maintenance, equipment records, purchasing, parts and materials specification, and spares.
  • Understanding of reliability centered maintenance practices.
  • Must be able to accept and respond to after hour's calls, and be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Working knowledge of business and financial concepts.

Nice To Haves

  • Wood products experience (ideally lumber) preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Strong SAP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, manage and provide effective leadership for the maintenance team.
  • Ensure the safety of all associates and contractors by identifying safety issues and taking measures to proactively address concerns; role model safe work practices and lead safety meetings and initiatives.
  • Actively lead and develop the maintenance team to ensure effective communication across & between shifts and with the production teams to maximize productivity and minimize cost.
  • Ensure utilization of preventive and predictive maintenance systems to increase equipment reliability.
  • Use reliable troubleshooting methods to ensure uptime, production volume and quality goals are met.
  • Use training resources to maximize team technical skills.
  • Support, maintain, and improve processes associated with the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Lead the team by proactively resolving employee issues, building team-work, encouraging innovation, and ensuring adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Provide leadership for the ongoing development of the maintenance team including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Facilitate team meetings and trainings.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement efforts.
