About The Position

Responsible for the day-to-day management of maintenance mechanics in the areas of manufacturing equipment and repair, facility, utility maintenance and repair. Ensures compliance with all Safety, GMP, Food Safety policies and procedures, along with all Federal, State, and Local environmental rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • At least six (6) years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • At least one (1) year of programmable logic controls.
  • Three (3) years supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment requiring knowledge of refrigeration.
  • Recognized leadership ability and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication, written and oral, and customer service relationship skills.
  • Ability to direct, coach, and train associates. Plan, monitor and schedule work.
  • Must be able to differentiate people behavior and equipment failure. The maintenance supervisor should be able to concentrate on the root cause of the problem not on the people.
  • Must be capable of independent reasoning and be self-motivated.
  • Energetic leadership: Possess a “can do” attitude that positively influences and energizes those around them. Uses strong communication skills, share information and provide clear point of view.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, schedule, and take a hands-on approach to leading a proactive maintenance group in a fast-paced world-class manufacturing environment.
  • Troubleshoot and participate in root cause failure analysis for a wide variety of plant processes involving hydraulics, pneumatics, vacuum, and refrigeration.
  • Lead the development of world-class standards and procedures for operation and maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain a preventative and predictive maintenance program and ensure compliance with the department’s preventative maintenance procedures and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Assist with developing and executing continuous process improvement projects focused on increasing plant efficiencies and equipment reliability.
  • Be a mentor to the maintenance personnel.
  • Support and encourage a culture that values a safe and clean work environment (5S).
  • Manage maintenance processes or systems to ensure compliance with product specifications, GMP, policies, procedures, corrective action processes, and continuous performance improvement.
  • Responsible for ensuring excellent housekeeping for the maintenance area as well as in the execution of maintenance works in the production area.
  • Responsible for identifying and championing opportunities within maintenance processes/systems to drive continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for ensuring 5S compliance in the area.
  • Responsible for managing, coaching, and providing appropriate development to employees to achieve optimum performance.
  • Leads and manages the communication process with the technical group to ensure clear expectations are provided.
  • Responsible for creating an environment that facilitates teamwork, self-management, and employee involvement in daily work, problem-solving, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Builds and manages relationships with internal and external customers (Walmart) to achieve objectives.
  • Supervise, develop, and motivate the maintenance mechanics in the areas of manufacturing, facility, and utility equipment troubleshooting and repair.
  • Aggressively manage all break down maintenance requirements to successful conclusions. Schedule (via the department’s Work Order system) and direct the day-to-day activities of the maintenance mechanics to achieve safe, timely, and satisfactory work.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of manufacturing equipment functionality and schedule necessary repairs or suggest changes in operating methods in order to improve plant operations.
  • Track, measure, and document the performance of the maintenance mechanics on an individual basis. Complete annual evaluations as required.
  • Develop and coach the maintenance team in self-management to ensure ongoing transfer of responsibility and accountability.
  • Attend meetings required for production schedule, maintenance discipline, maintenance planning, and engineering.
  • Responsible for the overall management of the process to maximize efficiencies, capacity, flexibility, and maintenance productivity.
  • Manage, monitor, and communicate maintenance performance results.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure efficient and reliable attainment of production and quality targets.
  • Works closely with the production group, group leaders, project/maintenance engineers, and other resources of the maintenance group to ensure high equipment reliability and availability.
  • Delivers on commitments: set clear, aggressive goals, achieves them through urgency, persistence and determination and takes accountability for results.
  • Driven to make informed decisions, continually seeks knowledge and applies it through a disciplined, fact-based approach to decision making.
