About The Position

McCain Foods (Canada) has an immediate opening for a Temporary Maintenance Supervisor (12-month Term) at our Carberry, Manitoba Food Processing Plant. Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for coordinating, monitor, and lead a group of Maintenance professionals.

Requirements

  • An Industrial Journeyman Trade license (Red Seal), Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other relevant education
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience, including supervising people
  • Experience managing projects, budgets, and a CMMS program
  • Supervisory experience in a processing plant (food processing experience an asset)
  • Solid understanding of proactive maintenance systems as well as continuous improvement strategies included in the lean manufacturing model
  • Ability to interpret industrial drawings as well as budget estimations for projects
  • Results-oriented, team player with excellent supervisory and communication skills, as well as strong problem-solving abilities
  • Strong computer skills required

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and support for an Industrial maintenance team, working towards proactive maintenance systems and continuous improvement strategies
  • Administrative responsibilities include task/time scheduling using CMMS as well as electronic reports as required
  • Ensure both personal and food safety policies are followed and adhered to by all employees
  • Liaison with corporate support for capital project management initiatives
  • Ensure safe, efficient work practices for building/equipment repair, rebuild shop, fabrication, welding, rigging and other associated activities
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of specialized production machinery
  • Supervision of contracted services within the factory as required
  • Assist factory teams in developing areas of opportunity
  • Lead the crew through a transformation by focusing on organizational strategies to optimize workflow processes and equipment improvement
  • Assist in troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical systems in the packaging area
  • Ensuring packaging equipment operates reliably, efficiently, and in compliance with all mechanical safety regulations
  • Promoting safety through proactive involvement in safety training, adherence to the safety program, and implementation of Safe Work Practices
  • Working closely and coordinating with production, environmental, and other maintenance personnel to ensure manpower is utilized and necessary tasks for equipment productivity and reliability are accomplished through the maintenance work process
  • Identifying and implementing maintenance improvements that result in year-over-year improvements in safety, production, maintenance, and costs
  • Coordinate projects with outside contractors and plant management staff.
  • Coordinates day-to-day operations with management staff to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Work with management in the development of plant projects and packaging upgrades.
