About The Position

The Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) is a dairy farmer-owned cooperative and dairy processor founded in 1916. MMPA serves dairy farmers in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin, maintaining a strong presence in the dairy industry through various channels, including processing shelf-stable, value-added dairy products. MMPA operates five member-owned processing plants in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio, including Superior Dairy and the Middlebury Cheese Company. Products manufactured at MMPA's plants encompass fluid milk, cheese, ultrafiltered milk, cottage cheese, ice cream, butter, nonfat dry milk, cream, and condensed skim milk.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualifications
  • Lead from the Front Mentality – Shop Floor management is a requirement
  • Must be competent with CMMS systems, Supervisory control systems, Controls Logic and other programs that are specific to work environment
  • Strong aptitude of automation, automation controls and control logic
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in maintenance
  • Good understanding of the technical features of plumbing, electrical systems, mechanical systems, vacuum, and pressure systems
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a mechanical or electrical discipline
  • Technical experience with industrial refrigeration and boilers systems are recommended

Responsibilities

  • Supervising and leading all maintenance processes and operations on shift
  • Work closely with Plant Engineering and Maintenance Manager to troubleshoot, improve and maintain the current operating facility
  • Lead on-shift maintenance team through difficult downtime events to include prioritizing critical downtime activities and managing all work orders through the shift
  • Inspect all machinery to ensure it is in a working standard
  • Assist in creating and implementing maintenance procedures
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facilities to detect and resolve problems
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining training for maintenance team to continue to grow. Training activities to include electrical and mechanical systems training and growth in control systems trouble shooting
  • Planning and managing all repair and installation activities
  • Ensuring all department workers adhere to the safety policies and procedures
  • Manage and validate performance of a rigorous preventative maintenance program
  • Preparing daily progress reports and maintenance logs
  • Overseeing equipment stock and placing orders for new supplies when necessary
  • Responsible for maintaining spare parts usage and inventory for all on shift activities
  • Ability to manage contractors working in the facility
