About The Position

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the interior and exterior of the property. The Maintenance Supervisor repairs the facility equipment and maintains the building structure, in accordance with Suffolk County regulations. Additionally, the Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the housekeeping staff. This position is essential to the safe and continuous operation of the program. Essential employees are expected to report to work during inclement weather and other relevant emergency situations to ensure uninterrupted care and support for clients.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience performing building maintenance and repairs required.
Prior experience with electrical, plumbing, spackle and paint, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment, and groundskeeping required.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, is required.
Valid and clean NYS Driver's License required.

Nice To Haves

Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge of the Suffolk County Department of Social Services requirements preferred.
Knowledge of facilities management software preferred.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee staff, including recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and conducting supervision and performance appraisals.
On-call responsibilities; including shift coverage.
Work independently and properly triage work orders according to importance.
Maintain ongoing relationships with outside vendors.
Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, as well as perform routine maintenance and repairs.
Prepare rooms for occupancy, including hanging sheet rock, spackle, painting, and routine maintenance.
Perform basic electrical and structural repairs or installations.
Perform mid-level plumbing duties: snake lines, remove and install toilets, and repair leaking pipes in ceilings, walls or under countertops.
Conduct regularly scheduled safety checks externally and internally throughout the building, including all equipment.
Maintain the interior of the property by performing routine maintenance tasks, including removal and replacement of light bulbs and ceiling tiles, unclogging drains, drywall repair and painting.
Notify the Operations Manager timely of the need for repairs or replacement of equipment or furniture.
Perform heavy cleaning duties, including cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.
Maintain the exterior of the property by blowing leaves, picking up trash and debris, sweeping, trimming, weeding, and removing snow and ice.
All other duties as assigned.
