About The Position

Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems, is seeking a Maintenance Manager to join their F135 Field Team supporting F-35 Joint Strike Fighter operations at Edwards AFB, CA. This role involves supervising hourly mechanics and bondroom/toolcrib personnel in the P&W Jet Engine Shop, coordinating propulsion system maintenance, and providing leadership focused on team building and responsiveness to production requirements. The position emphasizes improving working relationships, resolving technical and logistical issues, ensuring adherence to quality policies and safe practices, supporting government property management, and maintaining a strong safety culture. The role requires identifying and resolving problems, conducting root cause investigations, and implementing corrective actions. The individual must be willing to work any shift.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or business is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of aviation maintenance experience.
  • At least 3 years of managerial, supervisory and leadership experience required.
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a US DoD Secret security clearance within 12 months and maintain.

Nice To Haves

  • Government Property Management/Audit experience
  • SAP Experience and/or TC Max (tool accountability) Experience
  • Proficient using Microsoft suite tools, MS forms, SharePoint, Power automate etc.
  • Strong familiarity with CORE tools and /or lean management processes preferred
  • Experience supervising a unionized workforce

Responsibilities

  • Supervising a group of hourly mechanics and bondroom/toolcrib personnel in the P&W Jet Engine Shop.
  • Coordinating multiple propulsion system maintenance support activities in the P&W engine shop and flight line operating areas.
  • Providing leadership and direction with emphasis on team building through daily toolbox meetings, effective communications, and in developing an efficient team that is responsive to production requirements and changes.
  • Demonstrating consistency as a leader and improving key working relationships within and across the organization.
  • Working closely with P&W Field Services to resolve technical and logistical problems involving engine operation and maintenance.
  • Ensuring maintenance activities are performed IAW P&W Quality Policies, technical data, and safe engine operation practices.
  • Supporting Government Property Management processes.
  • Ensuring World Class safety culture is maintained and responding to all EH&S requirements promptly.
  • Actively supporting CORE initiatives and ensuring employee safety by complying with and supporting EH&S activities.
  • Using initiative and judgment to identify problems, conduct investigations to determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Willing to work any shift.
