About The Position

This position's primary function is to be responsible for the day-to-day leadership in the maintenance department. They will work as a coach and mentor to ensure we are staying current with our ever-changing workforce.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred.
  • 10+ years of millwright or related maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or lead role, preferably in a sawmill or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in CMMS/planning systems and Microsoft Office.
  • First Aid/CPR and PIT certification (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Champion safe work practices, enforce standards, and lead incident prevention efforts.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor maintenance employees; foster growth through on-the-job training and feedback.
  • Schedule and prioritize daily/weekly maintenance tasks; balance urgent repairs with long-term preventive and predictive programs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems to minimize downtime.
  • Partner with production supervisors to align maintenance priorities with mill goals.
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors, ensuring high-quality, timely, and cost-effective work.
  • Track downtime data, lead root cause analysis, and implement solutions to reduce recurring issues.
  • Oversee purchasing, inventory control, and cost management for parts and supplies.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and company standards. Maintain accurate documentation and records through CMMS and reporting tools.
