About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations from an Engineering viewpoint, including the hiring, training, and direct supervision of maintenance personnel. This role involves managing the successful transition of new products and technology into the production arena, writing routings/manufacturing instructions, and participating in concurrent engineering design reviews. The supervisor will also evaluate and approve drawings, routings/MIs, and specs, design and procure tools/equipment, and document manufacturing work instructions. Additionally, they will support prototyping activities, evaluate and solve production problems, provide input for the department’s annual budget, and assist with planning and scheduling of budgeted projects. This role partners with all departments to enhance the Engineering department's positive influence on quality, productivity, efficiency, and uptime, while optimizing inventory and ensuring adherence to Enterprise Asset Management System functions. The supervisor will also assist in the interviewing and selection process for new Engineering Department personnel and manage production operations, including all shop floor activities, following established procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of machining and assembly practices, tools and fixturing.
  • Ability to work with vendors, customers, and employees.
  • Must excel at working in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with product construction and application.
  • Complete knowledge of production scheduling and shop operations.
  • Highly organized individual, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Very strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including group presentations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and/or priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Computer literate, particularly in shop floor control, production planning, and inventory control applications.
  • Four to five years’ experience in manufacturing engineering or a commensurate level of experience with related products.
  • High school diploma.
  • Extensive knowledge in the following areas: Electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to utilize all available resources to maximize effectiveness of the Engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Write routings/manufacturing instructions using manufacturing engineering practices.
  • Manage the successful transition of new products and technology into the production arena.
  • Write appropriation requests and prepare quotes.
  • Participate in concurrent engineering design reviews.
  • Evaluate and approve drawings, routings/MIs, specs, and other documents.
  • Design and procure tools/equipment.
  • Process development and documentation of manufacturing work instructions.
  • Support prototyping activities of new product development.
  • Evaluate and solve production problems.
  • Provide input for the department’s annual budget and assist with the planning and scheduling of all budgeted projects.
  • Provide input and direction to the Lead Mechanic with weekday, weekend and vacation scheduling to minimize overtime.
  • Partner with all departments to make the Engineering department a positive influence on quality, productivity, efficiency and uptime.
  • Optimize inventory to reduce costs, while maintaining proper parts availability and insure that all Enterprise Asset Management System functions are adhered to.
  • Assist in interviewing and selection process for the hiring of new personnel in the Engineering Department.
  • Manage production operations including all activities of the shop floor and follow established procedures and approved processes.
  • Oversee manufacturing operations from an Engineering viewpoint.
