About The Position

As a Facilities Supervisor at JLL supporting General Motors operations, you will lead a dynamic team responsible for comprehensive facility management, maintenance operations, and contractor oversight in a unionized manufacturing environment. This critical leadership role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic project management, requiring you to ensure seamless building operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence. You'll supervise GM UAW Trades personnel, industrial cleaning staff, and subcontractors while serving as a key liaison between facility operations, building occupants, and site leadership. Your work directly impacts production continuity and workplace safety, contributing to JLL's commitment to delivering world-class facility management services that support our client's manufacturing objectives and regulatory compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • College degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or related technical field, OR equivalent work experience in facilities management with technical emphasis
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in industrial facilities, manufacturing environments, or building operations management
  • Experience working in a unionized environment with demonstrated ability to manage union personnel and navigate collective bargaining agreements
  • Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment operation and maintenance
  • Proven interpersonal and management skills with ability to supervise diverse teams, coordinate contractors, and communicate effectively with building occupants and executive leadership
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for reporting, documentation, and communication purposes
  • Physical capability to conduct facility tours, respond to emergencies, and provide hands-on support during equipment failures or critical maintenance situations

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 3+ years of facilities management experience in automotive manufacturing, heavy industrial, or large-scale production environments
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment and components including motors, pumps, chillers, boilers, transformers, and control systems
  • OSHA safety certifications, EPA compliance training, or facilities management professional credentials (CFM, FMP, CPMM)
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for work order tracking, preventative maintenance scheduling, and asset management
  • Project management experience including budget oversight, contractor management, and cross-functional team coordination
  • Knowledge of critical environment support systems (cleanrooms, controlled temperature/humidity spaces) and emergency backup systems

Responsibilities

  • Supervise GM UAW Trades personnel, general industrial cleaning staff, and subcontractors while ensuring proper work distribution, quality standards, and team coordination
  • Conduct daily safe operating tours to verify proper equipment operation, identify potential issues, and prioritize help desk work orders for immediate response
  • Manage corrective, emergency, and preventative maintenance of building systems while providing on-site coverage during weekend production or maintenance projects as required
  • Meet daily with alternate shift managers and regularly with the Site Manager and Facility Manager to address outstanding issues, plan upcoming projects, and provide operational insights
  • Investigate, plan, manage, and implement facility projects assigned by Site Manager and GM Site Team, ensuring timely completion with comprehensive communication to building occupants
  • Ensure EPA/OSHA compliance, government regulatory adherence, safety program implementation, CFC handling protocols, and Jones Lang LaSalle/GM audit standards
  • Monitor supply inventory levels, maintain critical component stock to minimize system downtime, establish key facility contacts, and provide daily shift communication and reporting
