About The Position

The Tire Shop Supervisor oversees all tire maintenance activities for heavy mobile equipment (HME) and light vehicles across the Ray Mine site. This role ensures safe, efficient, and cost‑effective tire operations, including inspections, repairs, replacements, inventory management, and long‑term planning. The Supervisor leads tire technicians, collaborates with maintenance and operations, ensures compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and ASARCO OIS standards, and assumes oversight of PM Bay and Lubrication Technicians in the ALPM Supervisor’s absence, with joint responsibility for all work areas.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (technical training preferred).
  • 3–5 years of experience in mining tire maintenance or heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Previous supervisory or lead‑hand experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and risk‑based decision‑making.
  • Proficiency with PMSAP or similar CMMS systems.
  • Ability to run Klinge for tracking tire efficiency and performance.
  • Strong knowledge of OTR tires, rims, and tire‑handling equipment.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals, technical bulletins, and safety documentation.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather and physically demanding conditions.
  • Strong leadership and team‑building skills aligned with ASARCO’s culture of empowerment and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Champion a zero‑harm safety culture aligned with ASARCO’s OIS and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Ensure compliance with MSHA/OSHA regulations and ISO 14001 environmental requirements.
  • Apply risk‑based thinking to plan and execute maintenance activities.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, hazard assessments, and job‑specific risk evaluations.
  • Enforce proper PPE use, tire‑handling procedures, and lockout/tagout practices.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive reliability initiatives, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA), to eliminate failures and reduce risk.
  • Supervise tire technicians, assign daily tasks, and ensure high‑quality work execution.
  • Oversee tire inspections, pressure checks, rotations, repairs, and replacements for all HME and support equipment.
  • Ensure proper mounting, demounting, and torque procedures for all tire and rim assemblies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe tire shop environment.
  • Utilize PM-SAP or similar CMMS systems for planning, scheduling, and work order management.
  • Coordinate with planners and warehouse personnel to ensure parts, materials, and tools are available.
  • Develop weekly, monthly, and long‑range tire maintenance plans.
  • Track tire performance, wear rates, and failure trends to optimize tire life.
  • Manage tire and rim inventory to ensure adequate stock levels.
  • Forecast future needs and coordinate procurement requests.
  • Work with vendors on tire repairs, warranties, and performance reviews.
  • Maintain accurate tire serial numbers, locations, and lifecycle history.
  • Monitor KPIs such as tire life, cost per hour, failure rates, and downtime.
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports for maintenance leadership.
  • Recommend improvements to reduce costs and increase tire reliability.
  • Create detailed tire performance reports using Klinge and Tire Sense systems.
