Specific Duties and Responsibilities include: This is advanced professional work supervising and directing employees. The primary duty of the incumbent in this position is to spend the majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating employees, planning and directing their work; and having the authority to effectively recommend actions such as: hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, promote, discharge, assign, and reward or discipline direct reports. Evaluates employees against established standards and takes appropriate actions when necessary (i.e. recognition, reward, corrective action, etc.). Directs the work of subordinate staff to ensure maximum use of time and resources. Responsible for recruitment, selection, training and overall coordination of subordinate positions. Motivates and trains employees utilizing Total Quality Management principles to improve quality and quantity of work performed. Communicates work plans, work objectives, and progress reports with employees and customers on a regular basis. Plans and inspects work performed by staff. Requisitions necessary tools, equipment, and materials essential to sensure proper repairs and work project completion. Completes quarterly reviews and probationary/annual evaluations for employees utilizing established department evaluation criteria. Performs additional dutes as assigned.
