About The Position

Tessera is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor – Building Shops. The Maintenance Supervisor provides direct supervision, leadership, and coordination of maintenance personnel responsible for Plumbing, Mechanical, Structural, Pest and Lock Shops. Ensures highly reliable infrastructure systems for our client’s mission by optimizing personnel, skills, schedule, best practices, and resources. Responsible for safety performance, workforce development, contract compliance, customer satisfaction, preventive maintenance execution, and reliability initiatives. Productivity, workplace safety, customer satisfaction, and the team’s success are dependent on the leadership team position efforts. Requirements

  • 5-8 Years of experience in Facilities Maintenance, Commercial/Industrial Building Systems, Mechanical Maintenance, Structural Maintenance, Government Facilities Maintenance.
  • Strong understanding in Contract Management, Operational Excellence, and Change Management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
  • Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
  • A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Certification as a Maintenance Manager (CMM), Reliability Leader (CRL), or Professional Maintenance Manager (CPMM) is preferred.
  • Prior trade experience in mechanical, plumbing, and/or structural is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, train, and develop employees within assigned shops while promoting accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.
  • Prioritize, plan, and coordinate all work for managed shops by leveraging shop SMEs, IQ Project Coordinators, and outside providers where needed.
  • Ensures all work has planned crafts, hours, materials, and equipment to ensure efficient execution and scheduling.
  • Finalizes an optimal weekly schedule and coordinates the week before execution.
  • Ensures workload balancing and external resource alignment.
  • Tracks schedule execution through shop leads who assign technicians and drive the daily execution leveraging shop sync meetings.
  • Coordinates system outages, shutdowns, upgrades, testing, and commissioning activities with government representatives, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • With Shop Leads and HR, develops and implements a skills matrix to advance technicians in each trade leveraging OJT, virtual and on-site classes, plumber license training, and other methods.
  • Ensures effective and efficient work execution, quality, and metrics.
  • Resolve any key process issue with production, logistics and other groups.
  • Ensures proper time accounting for all shop members.
  • Tracks key metrics and trends using Maximo and BI.
  • With QCR and Production, supports key initiatives including defect elimination, asset inventory and condition assessments, preventive and predictive maintenance optimization, and recap project prioritization.
  • Participates in accident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and maintenance of employee certifications and required training records.
  • Ensure compliance with all company, Navy, OSHA, NAVFAC, NFPA, UFC, and contract requirements through active oversight, inspections, and enforcement of safe work practices.
  • With Shop Leads and QCR, inspects a significant portion of workorders and periodically syncs with key clients to ensure quality results and contract compliance.
  • Knows appropriate sections of the contract and governing references.
  • Serves as the primary client contact for assigned building systems, providing technical guidance, issue resolution, and recommendations for system improvements.
  • All Other Duties as Assigned.
