About The Position

SFC Global Supply Chain, Inc., a subsidiary of Schwan’s Company seeks Maintenance Senior Specialists in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. These roles involve planning and executing maintenance, installation, repairs, troubleshooting, technical operations, and training activities for Schwan’s specialized and patented production machines and equipment, such as noodle and dumpling equipment, steaming/cooling machinery, feeders, and conveyers. The specialists will review maintenance and troubleshooting operations, define maintenance process conditions, and customize production lines for efficient manufacturing of frozen "Mandu" dumpling products. Advanced maintenance tasks include reading mechanical schematics, shaft and sprocket fabrication, welding, using metalworking tools, hydraulic hose repair, belting work, and vibration analysis. They will also perform major repairs, construction, fabrication of parts, and installation of new equipment, including fabricating guards, doors, steps, and using lathes for part creation. Training new employees on unique machinery and equipment is a key responsibility. The role requires ensuring maintenance and technical operations stay on schedule and within budget, determining causes of malfunctions, and developing solutions. Specialists will analyze maintenance data, reports, certifications, and quality control reports to set and meet maintenance goals, adhering to company guidelines and policies. They will implement and measure improved maintenance processes to minimize costs and optimize workflow, develop maintenance plans and training activities, and stay updated on the latest maintenance procedures and food industry trends. Reporting maintenance and technical strategies to management for improving overall operations, including implementing new processes and machinery developed in Korea, is also required. All duties must be performed in compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • At least four years of experience as a senior engineer, engineer, technician, senior maintenance specialist or similarly titled engineer, specialist or technician occupation involved with the installation, maintenance and repair of noodle and dumpling equipment at a food manufacturing plant.
  • Must have proof of legal authority to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Plan overall maintenance, installation, repairs, troubleshooting, technical operations, and training activities of Schwan’s specialized and patented production machines and equipment.
  • Review overall maintenance test and troubleshooting operations in the facility, including production line functionality and equipment.
  • Define maintenance process conditions and production line characteristics so that various frozen “Mandu” dumpling food products of the desired shape and quality can be customized, produced, and manufactured efficiently.
  • Perform advanced maintenance such as reading mechanical schematics, cut & key a shaft, broach a sprocket, change gearhead, weld stainless metal, use a metal sheer, use a metal bender, cut & make up ends on hydraulic hose, cut & lace belting and perform & log vibration analysis.
  • Perform major repairs and/or construction required to plant buildings and stationary equipment, fabrication of parts, and installation of new plant equipment.
  • Perform fabrication of equipment used for processing and packaging such as fabricating guards, doors, and steps, using a lathe for shaft and sprocket creation, fabricate air cylinder mounts, sensor mounts and conveyors.
  • Train new employees and U.S. workers on the maintenance, installation, repair, and use of our unique and patented machinery and equipment.
  • Ensure that maintenance and technical operations stay on schedule and within budget, including performing maintenance checks and drafting reports.
  • Determine causes of machinery and equipment malfunctions, slowdowns, or test failures and develop proper methods and solutions for reducing occurrences.
  • Review and analyze maintenance data and reports, certifications, and quality control reports to set and meet maintenance goals.
  • Abide by Schwan’s maintenance and production guidelines, manuals, and policies, draft maintenance statistical data and product specifications for various food products to determine present standards and establish maintenance reliability expectancy.
  • Implement improved maintenance and technical processes and measure to minimize operation costs and generate higher workflow optimization.
  • Develop maintenance plans and training activities for Schwan’s unique production systems via utilizing Schwan’s training manuals and guidelines.
  • Stay abreast of the latest maintenance procedures, equipment, food industry news, transactions, operations, and trends, and their implications in the U.S. market.
  • Report maintenance and technical strategies and progress to SFC Global Supply Chain, Inc.’s management on improving overall maintenance operations for the team, including implementing new maintenance processes, machinery, equipment, and systems developed in Korea so that efficient production operations can be implemented efficiently and safety.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with company policies and procedures and in a safe manner according to State, Federal and company regulations.
