About The Position

The Maintenance Specialist is a hybrid role responsible for supporting all maintenance/production crews by ensuring equipment health and inventory accuracy. This individual will perform daily equipment condition monitoring (ECCM) tasks, manage spare parts/supplies inventory, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently while collaborating across departments. This role is essential to the success of our maintenance operations and requires someone who can identify process gaps, track part usage trends, and support the maintenance team with both hands-on and administrative tasks. The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of the maintenance storerooms and MRO inventory, while also assisting with inspections, work order creation, and vendor coordination. The ideal candidate is confident, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and a willingness to grow into vendor-facing responsibilities are key to success in this role.

Requirements

  • Prior entry-level maintenance experience or strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
  • HazMat Certification (Willing to take a certification course)
  • Must wear and properly use required PPE on the plant floor.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with IQMS or similar ERP systems
  • Forklift license or willing to obtain license
  • Exposure to reliability or predictive maintenance practices
  • Oil certification(s)

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily plant walkthroughs to monitor equipment condition
  • Conduct oil checks on extruders and change filters on compressors and extruders and facilitate oil waste removal from the plant.
  • Maintain compressors & heat exchangers.
  • Perform equipment inspections and write up work orders for any issues found
  • Support general cleanup and readiness for maintenance activities.
  • Scan and update Asset Locations.
  • Receive and verify incoming parts daily; Count and receive items into IQMS
  • Deliver parts to departments and stock items in the maintenance storerooms
  • Update the Spare Parts Master Sheet and reconcile sign-out sheets daily.
  • Maintain inventory across all storage locations (MX Cage, Motor Farm, Barrel & Screw Rack, etc.)
  • Perform weekly cycle counts and rotating audits
  • Ensure all parts are labeled, stored properly, and tracked accurately
  • Support VMI programs (Grainger, Kimball, etc.) and coordinate with vendors as needed
  • Facilitate part request forms and assist with procurement tracking.
  • Help kit parts for the storeroom and MRO Work Orders.
  • Maintain workspace cleanliness and organization (COP standards)
  • Track part usage trends and collaborate with the buyer to present findings
  • Identify high-usage or obsolete parts and suggest alternatives
  • Participate in quarterly Continuous Improvement (CI) projects
  • Help close process gaps and improve inventory accuracy and part availability
  • Must be flexible for other duties as assigned
