About The Position

The Maintenance Specialist assists the Director of Maintenance in maintaining safe, clean, and well-maintained structures, grounds, and environments at each facility of Hope House, Inc. The Maintenance Specialist also assists in adapting the environment of each facility to the needs and safety of residents.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Current and valid driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicles.
  • Fingerprint clearance.
  • Current health screening and tuberculosis test, required by employer policy.
  • Knowledge and experience in home repairs, contracting, city codes, and safety standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to direct and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 25 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to keep records and logs of activities.
  • Ability to manage a budget and prioritize tasks for multiple structures and facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain each facility in a clean, sanitary, and good repair condition to support the safety and well-being of clients, staff, and visitors.
  • Helps maintain that buildings, structures, and grounds remain free of conditions that may adversely affect the health/welfare of clients, including noise, vermin, flies, and insects.
  • Adapt the environment to resident needs, as directed, including padding walls, making TV encasing/boxes, and providing environmental spaces or equipment necessary to implement the individual program plan (IPP).
  • Responsible for maintaining buildings, fixtures, equipment, and spaces in operable condition.
  • Inspect, repair, replace, service, or coordinate these activities for structures and equipment on a regular basis.
  • Respond to potential or actual environmental hazards upon notification and arrange for immediate repair.
  • Direct and support housekeeping standards in coordination with the Directors of Maintenance Service and Ancillary Services.
  • Perform weekly vehicle inspections and maintenance.
  • Coordinate routine repair, heavy cleaning schedules, and complete follow-up inspections.
  • Maintain and routinely inspect fire and safety equipment to operable, and well-maintained conditions.
  • Assist with inspections by city agencies, including the Fire Marshal, health department, building code inspector, and others as needed.
  • Respond to emergency and disaster situations and direct staff in utility, fire, and building safety procedures.
  • Communicate and coordinate maintenance functions with the Director of Maintenance, Director of Ancillary Services, facility Administrators, Clinical Services Director, and agency Executive Director.
