About The Position

Novolex is seeking a Maintenance Specialist for their Bridgeview, IL location. This role involves performing maintenance on thermal processing equipment, pneumatic and electrical systems, and material handling systems. The position offers an hourly pay rate of $35.23 to $47.73 and has a day shift available (Monday-Friday, 7 am - 3:30 pm). The company is a leading manufacturer of food, beverage, and specialty packaging across various industries.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 5-10 years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance or a similar role
  • Advanced knowledge in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and automated systems.
  • Experience in managing and implementing preventative maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and reduce downtime
  • High degree of knowledge of equipment and aptitude for understanding mechanical systems through formal training and/or education.
  • Be able to perform repairs.
  • Uses and/or make special attachments when necessary.
  • Trained in lock out/tag out procedures.
  • Making decisions based on established guidelines related to identifying and addressing defective work and operational issues.
  • Plan repair procedures to ensure efficient job completion.
  • Apply common sense to follow both detailed and simple written or verbal instructions and handle problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • High level of creativity and resourcefulness in solving various maintenance challenges.
  • Constant noise levels above 85db.
  • Constant dry/dusty environment.
  • Constant work around machinery & forklifts.
  • Steel toed footwear, safety glasses & hearing protection is required.
  • May experience temperature extremes based on outside temperature.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Supervisory experience and a proven ability to lead and mentor junior technicians is highly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret PI&D drawings are a plus.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) or Certified Maintenance Technician (CMRT) are a plus.
  • Certifies to operate forklift.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Communicate problems encountered throughout the shift and report carry-over items at tier 1 meeting.
  • Dismantle machinery to gain access to and remove/repair defective parts.
  • Follow OSHA and Novolex safety rules and requirements at all times with special attention to lock out-tag out procedure.
  • Efficiently track daily work and time spent on each job and correctly summarize the time spent on each work category at day's end utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Work with Parts Inventory Clerk to initiate purchase orders for parts and equipment, and for replenishing inventory when needed.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements in methods, procedures, and processes.
  • Perform PM's as assigned.
  • Perform all work utilizing Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Operate any equipment needed to perform job, including fork truck, man-lifts, and elevated work.
  • Perform other related duties to contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Technical Engineering team.
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical devices and apparatus with advanced skills in repairing mechanical equipment.
  • Examine mechanical equipment to diagnose problems.
  • Disassemble, repair/replace and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment including such devices as motors, conveyors, pumps, belts, chains, etc.
  • Read mechanical prints and technical data during the installation and repair of equipment.
  • Repair parts that require minor machine work or welding when needed.
  • Use precision measuring tools/devices, hand tools, and testing instruments.
  • Inspect all completed work and notify personnel when job is complete.
  • Lead and oversee the implementation of the company’s preventative maintenance program.
  • Ensure that all equipment and systems are maintained on a regular schedule, documenting repairs, parts replacements, and overall equipment performance.
