About The Position

Hitachi Particle Engineering and Services Inc. (HPES) is looking for a Service Technician to provide service and maintenance of the Proton Beam Therapy System (PBT) and associated supports to customers/hospitals. The PBT is a highly advanced system for cancer treatment. The Service Technician will be responsible for monitoring system status during treatment and performing preventive/corrective maintenance. This role involves working as part of a team to ensure compliance with technical and mechanical programs, including worker safety, spare parts management, tool management, equipment tagging, facility procedure compliance, administrative procedure compliance, and office equipment and systems, by adhering to all necessary procedures, protocols, and guidelines. The Service Technician is required to work at a hospital.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Be punctual.
  • Read and correctly interpret various engineering documents (schematics, wiring diagrams, piping diagrams, etc.).
  • Use standard electronic test and measurement instruments (DVM, oscilloscope, micrometers, etc.).
  • Work safely in regions of high voltage and radiation.
  • Lift equipment up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Maintain focus and work with precision over extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • College or bachelor’s degree in a Scientific major (BS or AS, e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer) or more than three years of experience in a related field.
  • Previous experience working as an equipment technician for a PBT facility.
  • Technical skills to perform troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Work based on assigned morning/evening schedules.
  • Keep the system running successfully to ensure medical treatment.
  • Work urgently to recover from system failure during medical treatment.
  • Work in compliance with all regulatory standards including customer/hospital policy, FDA, HIPPA, OSHA, internal company/site policies.
  • Report/update records of Preventive Maintenance (PM), Corrective Maintenance (CM), System Outage, Daily Shift Change Report, Daily Site Service Report, and TQA Work in a timely manner, including all relevant details.
  • Share current status information with the team.
  • Support shipping and receiving of parts and storage in the warehouse, handling with care.
  • Maintain appropriate dress code for working at a hospital.
