About The Position

This is an individual contributor position responsible for developing and managing the maintenance schedule in order to balance effectively the preventative maintenance demands and repair of essential equipment and facilities. The schedule is segmented by daily, weekly and monthly buckets. Position responsibilities include planning, scheduling and coordinating the maintenance schedule by reviewing and releasing work orders, and supplier schedules as well as doing emergency purchase of items for maintenance requirements. This position is responsible for aligning resources with demand based on PM planning and shop floor needs. This position does purchase for essential maintenance items not maintained in inventory and supplier scheduled orders according to existing strategy and negotiated prices. This position manages work orders and expenses for maintaining essential equipment, maintenance hours and other information as needed. Creating and executing any required action plans to close gaps. Demonstration of the core values of the Valmont Way is also required.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in relevant field or Associates Degree with 3+ years of experience or 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques
  • Attention to detail and quality in work

Responsibilities

  • This position reports into the Facilities Manager
  • This position coordinates the activities and deployable maintenance schedules
  • Evaluate preventative maintenance requirements and create work orders
  • Organize project work and repair work required by the maintenance team
  • Maintain planned scheduling parameters, such as lead-times, lot sizes, safety stocks, delivery times and order file data for all scheduled items
  • Create a schedule that satisfies production demands with optimum scheduling to prevent equipment downtime
  • Identify, negotiate, and resolve conflicts with respect to material and capacity availability and order-promising integrity
  • Source and request quotes for new material, or new suppliers for special purchase items.
  • Review equipment list and preventative maintenance instructions for new or change to existing materials.
  • Coordinate and manage inventory levels of critical spare parts.
  • Summarize daily and weekly work orders for released and firm planned orders and compare these to the preventative maintenance plan to ensure that all maintenance needs are met
  • Data reporting to identify through trend analysis opportunities and suggestions for improvement for processes and work flow
  • Develop a working knowledge of Valmont equipment, manufacturing and scheduling processes to ensure optimal value stream schedule stability, work order creation, rescheduling, load leveling, etc.
  • Inform management when demand cannot be met and recommend alternatives on how the requested demand could be satisfied.
  • This role becomes an outward “face for the company” and needs to be diplomatic and represent the company to internal employees, other sites, outside vendors and other company functions.
  • Ensure necessary maintenance and production supply items are immediately available storeroom
  • Work with outside contractors taking bids
  • Organization of meetings and tours for vendors
  • Judgment and decision-making skills while comparing relative cost and benefit potential
  • Help identify employee / distribution center training needs
  • Collaborate with a group to reach consensus
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of the workforce and management
  • The ability to motivate, develop and direct people without having authority over them
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, planning skills and attention to detail with accuracy
  • Schedule daily workload with minimal supervision or direction

  • Knowledge of the material, costs, techniques and processes used within the manufacturing industry
