About The Position

This role involves performing essential job duties related to the maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of center buildings and grounds. The Maintenance Safety Worker is responsible for general housekeeping, repairs to various building systems and structures, and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment. The position also includes modeling positive behaviors, acting as a custodian of center property, reporting ethical violations and safety concerns, and contributing to operational improvements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Five years of experience in plumbing, heating, air conditioning, carpentry, electricity, or general building and grounds maintenance.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to promote the Career Success Standards (CSS) by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students when necessary, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general housekeeping and cleaning of center buildings, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and maintaining restrooms.
  • Stock restroom supplies and maintain cleaning supply inventory.
  • Perform floor maintenance, including stripping and waxing.
  • Clean windows and doors.
  • Clean up spills and bio-waste using provided spill kits.
  • Maintain a running cleaning log on the cleaning cart and ensure restroom and cart logs are up-to-date.
  • Repair and maintain machinery, including automotive equipment, pumps, and motors.
  • Effect structural repairs and alterations.
  • Repair or replace doors, windows, walls, flooring, and other wooden structures.
  • Repair or replace plumbing, heating, and air conditioning equipment.
  • Repair or replace electrical wiring, lights, control switches, and other electrical items.
  • Perform minor construction projects such as building shelves, storage bins, counters, and workbenches.
  • Perform roofing repairs or maintenance.
  • Serve as the logistics and maintenance leader when the leader is off center.
  • Direct the activities of Maintenance Workers.
  • Drive center vehicles.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of buildings and grounds, including floors, bathrooms, and trash pick-up.
  • Model, mentor, and monitor the positive normative culture of the center.
  • Act as a responsible custodian for the assigned center property.
  • Report violations of ethical behavior.
  • Suggest opportunities for continuous operational improvement and reduction of waste.
  • Identify and report environmental health and safety concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor.
