Maintenance Repairman 2 - Loyalsock State Forest, Sullivan County
About The Position
The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is looking for a Maintenance Repairman 2 who enjoys active, hands-on work in a scenic forest setting. This role allows you to build, repair, and maintain the spaces that visitors rely on. You will use a wide range of tools and skills while supporting the mission of caring for public lands. Your efforts will help keep Loyalsock State Forest safe, welcoming, and well maintained. This role supports the overall upkeep of equipment, facilities, and natural areas throughout Loyalsock State Forest. Your work will ensure that visitors and staff have safe, functional, and well cared-for resources.
Requirements
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
- Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities
- Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain carved wooden signs used across the forest
- Maintain lawns, landscaping, buildings, and related structures
- Repair and service tools, vehicles, and small engines to keep operations running smoothly
- Clear walkways, lots, and building areas during winter conditions
- Assist with wildfire suppression, prescribed burns, search and rescue, and other emergency responses
- Maintain tools, purchase materials, and support daily operational needs
