Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
  • Maintain favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • Able to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal training in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade
  • Experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades (Examples of qualifying trades include carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, steamfitting/pipefitting, refrigeration/HVAC, painting, roofing/tinsmith, drywall/plasterer, and automotive mechanic work that includes performing technical duties on motors, engines, and electrical systems.)
  • Experience in commercial carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC trades
  • Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment
  • Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings
  • Experience with 3-phase wiring including emergency generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, switch gears, and 3-phase panels
  • Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats, and instantaneous water heaters
  • Experience with the provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC) as it relates to repair of buildings

Responsibilities

  • General Painting: Prepare and paint interior and exterior surfaces including walls, ceilings, floors, doors, and trim
  • Plumbing Repair: Maintain and repair sinks, valves, drains, water heaters, and various pipe systems
  • Carpentry Tasks: Perform repairs such as drywall patching, flooring fixes, and basic construction work
  • Electrical Work: Install circuits, replace switches, troubleshoot wiring issues, and maintain lighting systems
  • System Maintenance: Inspect and service HVAC, fire alarm, security, and automated building systems
  • Grounds Care: Remove snow, mow grass, and maintain landscaping and exterior surfaces
