About The Position

OUR MISSION: Our mission is to ensure the physical, operational and financial integrity of the regional flood risk management system, in southeastern Louisiana as a defense against floods and storm surge from hurricanes. We accomplish this mission by working with local, regional, state and federal partners to plan, design, construct, operate and maintain projects that will reduce the probability and risk of flooding for the residents and businesses within our jurisdiction. OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE: The Maintenance Repairer Master is responsible for providing advanced journeyman level work in multiple trades, including HVAC, plumbing, machinist, and welding. This includes troubleshooting issues in the maintenance of buildings and all related structures. Responsibilities encompass diagnosing problems, implementing effective solutions, and ensuring that all systems are functioning efficiently. The incumbent must be self-motivated. Tasks may be performed at SLFPA-E facilities or within Jefferson, Orleans and St. Bernard Parishes.
Requirements
- Three years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance.
- One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience.

Responsibilities
- Serves as the lead worker on assignments and directs the activities of lower-level employees including maintenance repairers and trades apprentices.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and the repair of complex problems.
- Responsible for the planning, organizing, determination of materials needed to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Conducts the quarterly operation/exercising of all valves owned or operated by the SLFPA-E and generates/completes all reports on the operation and maintenance of said valves.
- Inspects and maintains all relief wells/still wells owned or operated by the SLFPA-E and prepares reports associated with wells.
- Assists other skilled journeymen in the maintenance and repair of HVAC systems and spray equipment on herbicide applicator trucks.
- Works with assigned Maintenance Repairer 2, and Trades Apprentices by training and inspecting work performed.
- Provides feedback on quality and quantity of work assigned.
- Place and remove stop logs during high water emergencies.
- Make, place and remove sandbags whenever needed.
- Place and remove barricades and traffic cones.
