About The Position

This position reports to the Maintenance Superintendent of the Sheet Metal Shop within the Facility Maintenance Department. As a classified position, it is responsible for roof maintenance, including cleaning and minor repairs of roofs, gutters, downspouts, and drains. The role may also be assigned to carpentry and maintenance projects and involves working with and directing Maintenance Repairer 1 positions. A key requirement is the understanding and safe operation of large man-lift equipment.

Requirements

Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.
Valid driver's license
Will require an MVR

This position is classified as a safety and security-sensitive position.

This position is considered emergency essential and may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure per PS-18.
This position will require a physical evaluation based on the physical demands required.

Responsibilities

Check buildings for rain leaks.
Clean and make minor repairs to roofs.
Clean gutters and downspouts.
Make minor repairs to gutters and downspouts.
Clean roof drains and make minor repairs to roof drain covers.
Work as a Sheet Metal helper, assisting in fabricating and installing roof flashing.
Clean and repair metal roofs.
Help fabricate and install gutters, metal awnings, downspouts, conductor heads, exhaust grilles, and duct.
Help fabricate and install pans for air handlers, machine guards for air handling equipment, and louvers on buildings.
Work as a Carpenter helper, assisting in repairing and installing floors, doors, walls, and ceilings.
Repair fences, perform demolition, haul materials to jobsites, and clean up construction debris.
Work as a Painter/Plasterer helper, assisting in repairing all types of plaster, demolition, hauling materials, and cleaning up.
Paint surfaces as needed.
Operate heavy equipment & machinery (such as large man-lifts, scissor-lifts, fork-lifts, & large trucks with trailers).
Provide guidance, assistance, and support to Maintenance Repairer 1 employees when required.
Perform other related duties as required, including emergency work when required.
