About The Position
Baton Rouge Community College is hiring a full-time Maintenance Repairer 1 in its Facilities Department. The position performs minor repairs and routine maintenance on campus buildings, facilities, grounds, furniture, equipment, and light appliances. The role uses basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical skills and supports campus safety and upkeep. It reports to the Maintenance Master.
Requirements
- One year of experience or training in building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; or six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.
Responsibilities
- Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on campus buildings, facilities, furniture, and equipment using basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical skills.
- Maintain campus grounds by mowing, trimming, clearing debris, and repairing fences.
- Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for maintenance needs, safety concerns, and necessary repairs.
- Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on lawn mowers, appliances, pumps, small engines, and other light equipment.
- Perform routine upkeep of heating and air conditioning systems, including cleaning and replacing filters.
- Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance equipment.
- Assist with moving furniture and setting up campus spaces.
