About The Position

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) is recruiting for a Maintenance Repair Worker 4 for the Facilities Maintenance Department. This position is responsible for maintenance projects and tasks, event set up, furniture moves, install and damage repair, painting offices and community areas, general maintenance on door and locksets, plumbing, electrical diagnosis and repair.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of experience performing semi-skilled work in relevant building and/or mechanical trades; OR One (1) year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker III in Nevada State service; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
  • A valid Class “C” Nevada driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

Responsibilities

  • General facility repairs and preventive maintenance
  • Plan, organize and set up requested events for the college
  • Move furniture and equipment as requested
  • Perform basic plumbing repairs and preventive maintenance on various types of hardware and equipment; including door closures, windows, carpeting, floor tile, lighting ceiling systems and roofing repairs
  • Perform basic electrical work such as welding and machining work, repair tools and equipment
  • Order materials and supplies, and regular facility maintenance and maintenance records
  • Perform basic plumbing work such as pipe fitting, measuring, cutting, assembling and joining plastic and metal pipes and fittings; install and repair valves and fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and drinking fountains; open clogged drains, repair and modify plumbing systems and fixtures, including preventative maintenance duties as assigned
  • Perform basic electrical work such as measuring, cutting, installing conduit; pulling wiring, cut and connect wires to install fixtures, such as switches, outlets, lighting fixtures and power equipment; test circuits and components; maintain and repair parking lot lights, adjust and clean electric controls; install new parts on appliances
  • Cabinet construction, repair, and installation on tables, furniture, cabinets, and shelving
  • Estimate cost of jobs; acquire materials to complete jobs, and contact vendors
  • Perform basic carpentry work; patch roofs, remove walls, frame and fasten sheetrock; install and repair doors, pour concrete, build shelves, repair furniture, replace damaged floor tiles, install and repair locks and make keys, and install window coverings
  • Perform basic interior and exterior painting work; tape and texture sheetrock, patch sheetrock and masonry surfaces; set up ladders and scaffolding, mask surfaces and apply paint with brushes, rollers and airless spray equipment
