About The Position

The Ohio Department of Public Safety - Ohio State Highway Patrol is seeking a Maintenance Repair Worker 2 to perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and groundskeeping duties. This role is crucial for maintaining state facilities and equipment, ensuring the continued operation of the department. The position is designated as essential, requiring availability during public safety emergencies. The role involves performing maintenance, replacement, installation, and repair of electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry work, basic painting, and minor custodial duties. Additionally, the worker will operate a state vehicle for transporting equipment and materials, and perform minor maintenance on division vehicles. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is an internationally accredited agency committed to protecting life and property, promoting traffic safety, and providing professional public safety services.

Requirements

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
• 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in maintenance repair work (e.g., basic electricity, plumbing, carpentry, masonry repair & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment).
• Valid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code.
• Requires valid driver license to operate state vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance, replacement, installation & repair of electrical and plumbing equipment.
• Performs carpentry work involving maintenance, alteration &/or repair of buildings, equipment & wood structures.
• Performs basic painting.
• Operates state vehicle to transport various equipment, tools, parts, materials & supplies to various locations throughout the state or to transport vehicle to dealership for service or repair.
• Performs minor custodial duties.
• Performs general exterior grounds keeping duties.
• Performs minor maintenance on Division vehicles.
