About The Position

Performs a range of tasks both independently and with the Maintenance crew. This includes assisting maintenance carpenters, lead persons, painters and other crew members with tasks, accessing materials and laying them out for task, performing secondary functions to support completion of the task, and cleaning up job sights. This position has regular contact with or control over Indian Children and Vulnerable Adults. In compliance with Federal Law, this position will not be filled by an applicant with any felonious offense or any of two or more misdemeanor offenses under Federal, State, or Tribal law involving crimes of violence; sexual assault, molestation, exploitation, contact, or prostitution; crimes against persons; or offenses committed against children.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow instruction
  • Must be versed in safety standards in working around hand tools as well as power tools and equipment
  • Able to communicate and deal tactfully with other employees and homebuyers/renters
  • Ensure Housing Program property being utilized is secured at the end of each day
  • Must have reliable and excellent daily work attendance; punctuality in getting to work
  • Able to work with a crew as part of a team, and independently in the field as necessary
  • Must have a Washington State drivers license and be insurable
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have personal hand tools
  • 2+ years experience and knowledge in all laborer-related residential maintenance and remodel tasks
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more

Responsibilities

  • Assist maintenance carpenters, painters, and other maintenance workers and lead person with all aspects of home maintenance/repairs; assist painters with both painting, masking, preparing of surfaces and clean-up.
  • Pick up materials from suppliers when needed.
  • Perform duties, such as shovel work, hauling materials to point of work from on-site locations, disposing of waste material, cleaning up warehouse locations as well as job sites.
  • Undertake all maintenance/rehabilitation work projects as assigned by a lead person or designated maintenance worker.
  • Attend training to further job skills as required.
  • Other related labor duties as may be assigned in the process of home maintenance, modernization and rehabilitation.
