About The Position

The Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Technician troubleshoots, repairs, and documents Return Material Authorization (RMA) items for Group 2 Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and associated Ground Support Equipment (GSE). The technician supports the MRO RMA Manager by completing repairs that enable on-time delivery and align with Redwire’s quality and profitability goals. This role partners with internal teams throughout the aftermarket repair process and maintains a customer-focused approach.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated hands-on troubleshooting mindset; able to independently isolate faults and drive repairs to closure while coordinating with cross functional teams as needed.
  • Working knowledge of QMS-controlled repair environments; able to follow work instructions, capture as-found/as-left conditions, and maintain traceability (parts/serials) in maintenance records.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple RMAs and shop tasks (diagnosis, disassembly/assembly, repair, test, documentation) while meeting turnaround time commitments.
  • Skilled at executing structured troubleshooting and documenting results clearly for internal and customer-facing reporting.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to support component-level repair, rework, and correct configuration.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and service/maintenance tracking tools (e.g., SharePoint, Jira); able to create clear repair reports and attach test data, photos, and checklists as required.
  • Experience with UAS repair practices, hardware installation, cable routing, and functional test/verification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting and fault isolation on RMA returns for Group 2 UAS and associated GSE in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Disassemble, repair, rework, and reassemble UAS/GSE components using standard workmanship practices and approved work instructions.
  • Perform post-repair functional testing, calibration/verification as applicable, and final acceptance checks to confirm airworthiness/operability per requirements.
  • Follow ESD, safety, and tool control requirements; maintain a clean, organized work area and properly handle, label, and store hardware and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Receive, inspect, and document incoming customer returns (aircraft, subsystems, and support equipment), verifying configuration and recording discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Customer Support to clarify symptoms, obtain dispositions, and escalate issues as required.
  • Provide technical status updates and support to the global support team as needed, including participation in internal coordination meetings when appropriate.
  • Support RMA intake and status communication by responding to routine technical inquiries, requesting missing information, and routing items to the appropriate teams.
  • Identify parts, materials, and special tooling required to complete repairs; coordinate with Supply Chain to source items, confirm lead times, and support RFQ inputs as needed.
  • Complete maintenance documentation and digital records (e.g., work orders, as-found/as-left condition, parts traceability) in accordance with QMS requirements.
  • Document repair actions, test results, and turnaround status to support RMA tracking, internal reporting, and on-time delivery commitments.
  • Support System Check Out and Flight Operations teams during final verification, including configuration checks, functional test support, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Other duties as assigned.
