Learn how you can start or jumpstart your career with us. Qnity's ACST site in Hayward, California has an opportunity for a Maintenance & Reliability Mechanic to join our team. Maintenance & Reliability Mechanics are responsible for routine and non-routine maintenance activities on the site's manufacturing and process equipment. Daily tasks include performing maintenance in the areas of chemical transfer systems, utilities, PLC's, mechanical and electrical systems. Duties include coordinating and executing troubleshooting efforts and strive to implement improvements with operations and engineers as needed for day-to-day site operation.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in a Maintenance role, relevant professional work (electronics, maintenance, computers) or military experience, is preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical maintenance on pumps, valves etc. is required.
  • Must be willing and able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to include; equipment such as hearing protection, gloves, safety glasses, hardhats, respirators, and safety shoes when required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to stand; walk (up and down stairs); twist; bend; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb for extended periods of time; and will require the ability to lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
  • Knowledge of power tool safe handling, ability to wear a respirator and able to work in confined areas.

Nice To Haves

  • A 2-year technical/vocational degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
  • E&I - Electrical and Instrumentation preferred.
  • Forklift driving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine maintenance activities on the site's manufacturing and process equipment.
  • Perform maintenance in the areas of chemical transfer systems, utilities, PLC's, mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Coordinate and execute troubleshooting efforts.
  • Implement improvements with operations and engineers as needed for day-to-day site operation.
  • Work with a variety of team members including other mechanics, operators, and engineers.

  • Utilize computer software programs to troubleshoot.
  • Operate a mechanical lift.
  • Be punctual and demonstrate reliable attendance.
