About The Position

Transcat is seeking a full-time Maintenance and Reliability Engineer to serve as a key technical resource supporting clients in optimizing maintenance and reliability programs, driving performance improvements, and sustaining asset health. This role involves developing risk-based maintenance strategies and creating preventative maintenance (PM) programs. The engineer will balance hands-on maintenance leadership with analytical reliability strategies to reduce downtime, extend asset life, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). This is an on-site position with occasional travel up to 25% of the time, reporting directly to the Maintenance and Reliability Service Leader. The role is project-centered, with the initial project focused on implementing asset management and calibration processes within SAP in Marietta, PA, to ensure full operational readiness at startup. This includes asset onboarding, master data development, maintenance and calibration planning, and spare parts strategy aligned with site standards.

Requirements

  • 3 – 5 years of experience in maintenance and/or reliability engineering.
  • Experience with either SAP.
  • Demonstrated experience in preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Working knowledge of reliability analysis methods and continuous improvement tools.
  • Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with MRO and spare parts management and BOM development.
  • Knowledge of EHS and GMP regulations.
  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools (Spotfire, Power BI, Tableau) or AI technology.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office platforms (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Able to travel up to 25% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a STEM field or trade certification in instrumentation, mechanical, electrical, or related engineering field.
  • Life Science experience.
  • Certified Reliability Leader (CRL) or Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to stringent regulatory requirements, such as FDA regulations, ensuring all activities and equipment meet industry standards for quality and safety.
  • Create preventive and predictive maintenance based on asset criticality.
  • Conduct criticality assessments and support risk-based decisions.
  • Define spare parts strategies, including critical spares and Bill of Materials (BOM) alignment.
  • Support precision maintenance and reliability best practices.
  • Conduct data-driven analyses of equipment reliability trends and develop improvement recommendations.
  • Implement and sustain CMMS processes including PM optimization, asset hierarchies, and work management best practices.
  • Support and facilitate root-cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (CMMS, engineering, operations, quality, EHS) to align M&R initiatives with business goals.
  • Coordinate vendor and contractor support for maintenance and reliability improvement activities.
  • Contribute to MRO spare parts management, bill of materials accuracy, and lifecycle cost reduction.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and digital transformation initiatives leveraging data visualization, AI, or BI tools.
