About The Position

The Maintenance and Refrigeration Manager oversees the work done by maintenance and refrigeration supervisors and their crewmembers. The manager also looks for improvements inside the department and improvements of the equipment or facility to improve production performances.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from four-year college or university; or seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to qualify for the company as a pool driver.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.
Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Knowledge of Database software; Design software, i.e. AutoCAD; Internet software; Inventory software; Payroll systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Must be able to perform the above items and be flexible to changes and adjust to interruptions brought on by unseen problems with equipment, production, sanitation, and personnel.
Must be able to read and understand schematics, drawings, mechanical manuals, and code books.

Responsibilities

Completes the labor budget.
Oversees the Preventive Maintenance Program.
Oversees maintenance work orders.
Performs Process Safety Management (Ammonia Refrigeration).
Oversees the hot water system.
Oversees the facility and the equipment inside and outside.
Oversees projects.
Oversees contractors.
Upholds OHSA codes, IIAR codes, and NEC codes.
Oversees production downtime.
Oversees the performance of Maintenance and Refrigeration supervisors and their crews.
Oversees the pre-op lockout and tagout program.
Makes sure that facility drawings are updated.
Looks for improvements to be made in plant utilities.
Oversees safety programs.
Performs and oversees training programs.
Works with and assists in monitoring the purchase of parts and equipment to maintain the facility.
Must have ability to drive a vehicle for company business purposes.
Must submit to and pass a background investigation.
Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise hourly employees in Maintenance and Refrigeration.
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
Directly supervises one non-supervisory employee.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
